Installing a wood burning fireplace insert — San Mateo, CA

Last updated: September 24, 2026

What affects the price

The final bill for a wood fireplace depends on several moving parts. Choosing between a simple pre-fabricated insert and a custom-built masonry hearth changes labor costs significantly. You also need to consider the condition of your existing chimney; if it needs a new liner or structural repairs to meet local safety codes, that adds to the total. Efficiency ratings and the finish materials you select—like stone, brick, or high-end metal trim—also influence the investment required for your home. Exact pricing confirmed free on the call.

About this service

Installation involves cleaning your existing chimney, installing a stainless steel liner, and securing the insert into the hearth opening. It is a technical process because the unit must be properly sealed and ventilated to be safe. You need this service if you have an old fireplace that is no longer functional or safe to use. Professional installation ensures that the unit drafts correctly and meets all safety codes for your home.

Most homeowners forget about their fireplace during the summer months, but it is actually the best time for upgrades. You can avoid the rush of the busy heating season by scheduling installations or structural repairs now. Getting your fireplace ready during the off-season means you will be prepared the moment the first chilly evening arrives.
